With more than 25 years’ experience as an advocate, John has a special interest in advising and appearing in product liability and insurance related matters (personal injuries and torts other than personal injuries). John has worked for leading Australian national law firms, US Attorneys and English law firms in tobacco, pharmaceutical and medical device among other product liability litigation.
Recent work includes acting for a plaintiff in a product liability claim against the foreign manufacturer and importer of a sporting shooter rifle which malfunctioned as a result of an alleged ‘safety defect’ in the bolt head assembly of the rifle.
John has appeared variously for the Plaintiff and non-employer defendants in recovery actions brought pursuant st s.138 of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (vic) and also in serious injury applications made pursuant to s.134AB of that Act.
John is a longstanding member of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) and committee member of the AILA Victorian Branch. He is also a committee member of the National Product Liability Association (NPLA).
He regularly undertakes common law litigation and advises parties concerned to protect their interest in matters relating to:
