Zero has experience in a number of State and Federal jurisdictions, including commercial law, consumer law, torts (including intentional torts), employment and discrimination law, human rights and administrative law. In addition to appearing at both final and interlocutory hearings he is regularly instructed to advise and to draw or settle pleadings.
He also has experience in acting in and advising on common law and personal injury matters.
In his employment practice he has acted for both employers and employees in both statutory and common-law jurisdictions. He has acted for both plaintiffs and defendants in Discrimination law proceedings at both a State and Federal level.
His administrative law practice sees Zero acting in both Federal and State jurisdictions in a variety of matters encompassing disciplinary boards, merits review proceedings and judicial review proceedings. By way of example, he represented the plaintiff inZZ v Secretary, Department of Justice & Anor VSC 267 which provided important guidance on the proper construction of theWorking With Children Act2005 (Vic) and theTransport (Compliance and Miscellaneous) Act1983 and how those Acts should be applied in VCAT.
Zero is dedicated to providing pro bono assistance when able and he is a member of the Victorian Bar Pro Bono Scheme. He also has a long-standing association with the arts and has for many years been a member of the Arts + Law Centre of Australia’s legal advice panel which provides pro bono advice to its subscribers.
In 2009 and again in 2012 he was a recipient of Arts + Law’s Print Commission Award in recognition of the pro bono support he provided to Arts + Law for those years.
He has an interest in aviation law and holds a Restricted Private Pilot Licence, flying out of Essendon Airport.
