Before being called to the Bar, as a solicitor Campbell Hangay practised for five years in the areas of criminal law, civil litigation, personal injury and worker's compensation.
Campbell Hangay began practise as a solicitor in the firm of Saines & Partners (now Saines Lucas) in Ballarat, later moving to Maurice Blackburn-Ballarat (now McGlades Personal Injury Lawyers).
During his time in Ballarat, Campbell Hangay appeared for two years as a VLA accredited duty lawyer in the Ballarat Law Courts.
Campbell Hangay then worked for Herbert Geer & Rundle (now Herbertgeer) in the area of worker's compensation.
