Before coming to the Victorian Bar, Jim most recently practiced as a solicitor in his home town of Warrnambool with personal injury specialists, Stringer Clark involving:-

Prior to his return to Victoria, as an already experienced trial advocate, Jim practised from 2000 to January 2007 in London. He was a Solicitor Advocate (holding the Law Society's Higher Courts - Criminal Qualification) with renowned central London criminal law firms, Freeman's Solicitors and Murray's Partnership.
This involved regularly and successfully appearing as sole counsel for defendants in many difficult criminal jury trials in the inner London Crown Courts before being called to the Bar at the Inner Temple.
Prior to his practice in England, Jim frequently appeared in the Magistrates Court civil trials, County and Magistrate's Court criminal trials.
