Andrew was articled to the firm Minter Ellison in 1990 and continued as an employee solicitor with that firm until 1992 when he was called to the Bar. During his time at Minter Ellison Andrew was a member of the firm's insurance and construction practices.

Andrew specializes in complex construction and engineering disputes and related commercial litigation and has appeared as sole counsel and junior counsel in numerous significant proceedings in the County, Supreme and Federal Courts and VCAT. Andrew has also practised extensively in specialist tribunals including the Building Appeals Board.

Senior counsel that Andrew has appeared with in large Supreme and Federal Court proceedings and Commercial Arbitrations include (the now) Justices Jessup, Nettle and Tracey, Dr Cliff Pannam QC, Alan Archibald QC, Graeme Uren QC, Noel Magee QC, David Levin QC and Hugh Foxcroft S.C.

Some of the more significant proceedings in which Andrew has been involved during recent years include:

Supreme Court litigation in relation to:
* the Burnley and Domain tunnel components of the Melbourne CityLink Project; and
* the Lorne and Apollo Bay waste water treatment plants;

Federal Court litigation concerning:
* the establishment of a major food processing facility in Melbourne by a Japanese parent company; and
* the validity of warranty insurance issued under the Building Act 1993;

Commercial Arbitrations concerning:
* the Concession Deed governing the Melbourne CityLink Project;
* the remediation of contaminated land in the Melbourne Docklands precinct; and
* the reconstruction of the Geelong Road component of the Princess Highway.
